WEATHER & COURSE UPDATES

We know you have been putting in the work getting ready for the 2023 America First Ogden Marathon.
Training for a marathon, or any distance event, is a long road. Over here at the GOAL Foundation, we've also been working hard to ensure a great event experience for all! We have a few on-course updates to share regarding this year's event:

Weather: Please keep a close eye on Weather updates (Huntsville for Full start, Eden for Half start, Ogden for finish), as we are forecasted for sunshine and warm temperatures on Saturday. Race day forecast is looking like a low of 47 at the start lines and a high of 80 degrees at the finish.
Be prepared, stay hydrated, and come with warm layers to put in your drop bag before you start the race. All clothing left on course will be collected and donated to a local charity. Only items put in your drop bag will be returned to you at the finish line.

Course Fuel: This year we're proud to have GU Energy Gels as our in-race fuel at several points along the course. Gu Energy Gels will be available at the mile number 5, 8.5, 13, 17, and 23 water stations along the course. A full list of the water station mile markers, fruit and Gu Energy Gel stations can be found on the Race Info page, as well as more information regarding Pacers and Medical Support.

Course Marking: Once on the Ogden River Parkway, runners spend most of these last few miles following the river.  We're bulking up our course marking along the parkway, and you can expect to see orange marking paint arrows from the start of the parkway until the finish line stretch on Grant begins. You'll also see some white course arrows on cones at key junctures along the course.  We don't want any confusion during your hard-earned finishing stretch.

Spectators: We encourage your family, friends and loved ones to come out and celebrate your journey! Have them sign up for the Track My Runner athlete updates service to see you progress through the race as you pass the checkpoints along the course. The finish line is the best place for others to see the culmination of all your hard work. The final mile on Grant Ave between 18th and 25th is also a great spot, as well as catching you along the Ogden River Parkway. We do ask that no one cheer for runners at the mouth of the canyon, as this is a very congested area. Members of the Ogden Police Department and Utah Highway Patrol do a great job keeping this area safe for runners, and they discourage all extra traffic and spectators in the area for the safety of this event. The first available spot to spectate along the parkway is near the Dinosaur park. We have permission to allow spectator parking in the Timbermine Restaurant parking lot this year.  It is only accessible by taking Valley drive down from 20th ave and Harrison. There is no access to valley drive via Canyon Rd/12th St. There is also absolutely No Parking or Turning Around at Rainbow Gardens.

Flooding: As we shared with you yesterday, the impacted area of Ogden Canyon has been fully mitigated and will not affect the Ogden Marathon Course. Participants running the Full Marathon distance should know that just past the Mile 3 water station, runner’s will be restricted to running on the right (westbound) shoulder of the road for a distance of a few hundred yards.  We will have a deputy in this area, and ask that all runners are vigilant, and remain to the right of the cones at all times. Remaining to the right of the cones is the standard along the whole course, but is of particular importance in this small section 3 miles into the Full Marathon course.

Autoliv Finish Line Festival

As you cross the finish line on Grant Ave and Historic 25th Street, you will be welcomed by cheering crowds at the Autoliv Finish Line Festival. Grab a snack and catch your breath, then head over to the Amphitheater to retrieve your Drop Bag and get a free assisted stretch, provided by StretchLab Farmington.

Next – It's time to celebrate! Live music, vendors, food trucks, free kids activities, and a family-friendly party atmosphere for all to enjoy!

Don't forget to register your little ones for the FREE Granite Kids K at 12:30pm!

Kids K Packet Pickup will open at 11am in front of the Amphitheater (where you pick up your drop bags.)
