RACE TIPS

While training for the Escape From Alcatraz Triathlon, here are a few tips to help get you across the finish line:

  • Remember, this is a challenging, open-water swim with a strong current. Try to swim in open-water as often as possible. If open-water is not accessible where you live, getting laps in at a pool or joining your local Masters swim program will help. Water World Swim offers a number of opportunities to jump into the San Francisco Bay before the event. For more information about these opportunities visit: www.waterworldswim.com
  • Brick workouts are essential for this race. After a long bike ride, try to do some running. You’ll see that stacking your training is effective and will payoff on race day.
  • During your training runs, be sure to include some stairs. There are a good number of steps from mile two through six, including the infamous Sand Ladder.

For more helpful race tips, be sure to keep an eye on our upcoming newsletters and visit our website: www.EscapeAlcatrazTri.com.
